Acupuncture - 5 Element

Practitioner
Susan Adams

Susan Adams practices two styles of acupuncture, Five Element Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This combination of treatment philosophies, aimed at both symptoms and their underlying causes, is sometimes referred to as integrated acupuncture.

What can I expect?
In the first session a detailed case history is taken, and an initial treatment plan formulated according to the principals of TCM and 5 Element acupuncture. In follow-up sessions questioning is used to assess progress and reactions to previous treatments.  In addition to questioning, Susan also gathers information to inform her treatment plan using traditional Chinese methods such as feeling your pulses and observing your tongue; both of which can be used to assess changes internal organ strength.

You will normally be asked to come in for a series of 4-6 treatments.  In addition to needling, the treatment may involve suction cups, moxibustion (herb burned over acupoints), guasha (skin scraping), electro acupuncture, or acupressure may be used. Needles used are very fine, pre-sterilised and single use. On the day of treatment please come rested, do not drink alcohol and make sure you are not too hungry. Please wear loose clothing; it may be necessary to move or remove items of clothing to reach acupuncture points.
