Acupuncture is an ancient form of Chinese Medicine geared to harmonising the body’s energies. The British Acupuncture Council states its focus is on improving the overall wellbeing of the patient, rather than the isolated treatment of specific symptoms.
Acupuncture helps reinstate innate healing capabilities. In addition it is used as a preventative medicine to promote good health, better energy levels, balanced appetite and sleep giving a sense of well–being. It is complementary to medical and other treatment approaches.
It works using fourteen meridians or energy channels that encompass the whole body. Each of these meridians relate to an organ, e.g. liver, spleen, lungs etc. Each organ can be balanced using certain points along its meridian, positively impacting the other associated organs.
Diagnosis is carried out by taking the pulses, looking at the tongue, observing the patient and taking a thorough history.
Acupuncture is a complete system of medicine.
The various styles and systems of acupuncture practiced at the Holistic Health Centre are Traditional Chinese Medicine or Chinese Acupuncture, Five Element Acupuncture, Dr Tan’s Balance Method, Auricular Acupuncture. Please ring for more information.
